Tranmere Reserves claimed a point from their second Pontin's Holidays League Cup match of the season at Morecambe last night.

Shaun Garnett fielded a very young side at Christie Park, with seven first year scholars in the squad.

In a close game, Rovers went behind on 70 minutes and left it late to level. In the third minute of added time Danny Holmes whipped in a cross from the right and Terry Gornell headed in at the far post.

After the match Garnett said: "A draw was a fair result but we really could have done with a win to help us qualify from our group."

Tranmere: McWeeney, Holmes, Ash Taylor, Johnston, Cresswell, Jones, Henry, Beahon, Blundell, Gornell, Macauley (Wilson 64). Substitutes not used: Kennedy, Richardson, Moran, Denson.
