Tranmere Reserves lost to an experienced Wrexham side at Buckley Town FC in the Pontin's Holidays League on Monday night.

Rovers fielded a side without any players with first team experience, while Wrexham named ten professionals in their starting line-up, so Reserve Team Manager Shaun Garnett wasn't too disappointed in the result.

He said: "It was a good performance from the lads against a very strong Wrexham team.

"If you take away Paul Henry and Danny Holmes, our team was all under-18s, with six of the starting being first year scholars.

"We did well to keep stop Wrexham from scoring until the 74th minute and while maybe we could have defended better for the goal, it was a very good finish."
