A very young Tranmere Reserve team suffered a 3-0 defeat at Rossendale FC's Dark Lane against Rochdale.

Rovers, who fielded a side with just one professional, conceded the first goal on 10 minutes, the second on 24 and the game was effectively over when the third went in on 44.

Coach Shaun Garnett said: "Considering the age of our team and the experience they had out we didn't do too badly.

"We had a few chances, Terry Gornell had two, Tom Beahon had one and Dave Wilson had a half chance, but unfortunately we couldn't put any of them away."

Tranmere: Achterberg, Denson, Gerwyn Jones, Ash Taylor, Cresswell, Fraughan, Moran, Beahon, Corrigan, Wilson, Gornell (Richardson 70). Substitutes not used: Kennedy, Macauley, Blundell.
