Reserves: Rovers 3 Wrexham 2

Posted on: Fri 08 Feb 2008

Two goals from trialist Cornell Glen and a strike from Chris Greenacre gave Rovers a 3-2 win over Wrexham in their afternoon Pontin's Holidays League match at Prenton Park.

Glen put Rovers into the lead on 14 minutes with a deflected left foot shot, but Wrexham's Rob Duffy equalised on 33 minutes.

After the sides went into half time level, Greenacre added the second from close range after Tom Beahon's initial shot was parried into his path by the Wrexham keeper.

Glen added a fine third on 83 minutes. A long ball from goalkeeper Peter Kennedy reached the striker on the edge of the area and after chesting the ball with his back to goal, he turned and volleyed into the right side of the net, giving the Wrexham keeper no chance of a save.

The visitors pulled a goal back with one minute of normal time remaining, the unmarked Duffy heading in from close range, but Rovers then held out comfortably for the win.
