Reserves: Morecambe 3 Tranmere 5
Tranmere got their Reserve campaign underway with an incredible 5-3 away win at reigning league and cup holders Morecambe on Wednesday night.
Rovers opened the scoring after 15 minutes when a cross from Aaron Cresswell looped over the head of home goalkeeper Jamie Scott and into the net.
Two minutes later it was 2-0 when Chris Shuker lobbed the keeper from outside the area, though Morecambe came back into the game soon after with a Michael Twiss free kick deflecting beyond Peter Kennedy.
Rovers went 3-1 up early in the second half when Chris Greenacre headed past Scott, and though Morecambe levelled with strikes from Stewart Drummond and Aaron Taylor, further goals from Greencre and Shuker sealed the win for Shaun Garnett's side.
