Posted on: Fri 12 Sep 2008

Midfielders Adnan Ahmed and Charlie Barnett were on target as Rovers ran out 2-0 winners over Accrington Stanley in the Central League West Division.

Ahmed opened the scoring on 18 minutes, chipping Stanley keeper James Speare from the edge of the area after an excellent cross field pass from Dave Wilson.

Barnett added the second later in the first half, firing low into the bottom left corner after a good pass from Josh Macauley.

Midway through the second half Rovers were reduced to ten men when Joel Richardson was sent off, but Peter Shirtliff's side held on for the win.
