Reserves: Carlisle 2 Tranmere 1

Tranmere Reserves suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 2-1 against a very experienced Carlisle United at Brunton Park.

The home side took the lead in the totesport.com League match on 13 minutes when former Sunderland striker Michael Bridges found the target.

Tranmere striker Josh Macauley - who netted a hat-trick two days earlier for the Youth team - equalised on 31 minutes, but Gary Madine grabbed the winner for the hosts three minutes after half time whenhe converted a Jeff Smith cross.

Tranmere: Achterberg, Holmes, Cresswell, Denson, Jones, Henry, Mackreth, Fraughan, Macauley, Ashcroft (Rule 60), Corrigan. Subsitutes: Richardson, Baker, Pursehouse.
