Tranmere Reserves suffered a 1-0 defeat against Walsall in the totesport.com League Cup at Cammell Laird FC on Wednesday.

Rhys Weston scored the only goal of the game after six minutes when he expertly found the top corner from a free kick. There were few real chances on goal in the rest of the game, with Ryan Fraughan and Michael Ricketts going closest for Rovers.
