A young Tranmere reserve side lost 4-2 at Prenton Park against Blackpool on Monday afternoon.

Cole Stockton scored both goals for Rovers in the defeat, but Head of Youth Kenny Shiels was pleased with the performance.

He said: "We played some really good football but we had a young team out, including several under-16s and under-15s, and they were nervous in the first 15 minutes.

"We gave away a couple of penalties but we created a lot of chances in the second half and it was a good education for the players."
