A fantastic strike from Adam McGurk wasn't enough for Tranmere Reserves in their first match of the season as they lost 2-1 to Macclesfield Town at Cammell Laird FC.

McGurk opened the scoring on 29 minutes with a 25-yard effort which found the top right corner but the visitors drew level three minutes before half time.

Macclesfield took the lead on the hour mark and though Rovers had chances through Max Power and Steve Connor they were unable to equalise.
