Everton 2 Rovers 2 (Rovers Win 6-5 On Penalties)
Tranmere knocked out Everton in the Liverpool Senior Cup Second Round on Wednesday night at Haig Avenue.
After the two sides shared four goals in normal time, the score was still locked after extra time with Rovers eventually winning a penalty shoot out 6-5.
Tranmere took the lead through Jamie Garry after the striker knocked in from a corner. However, the home side hit back straight away with Victor Anichebe converting after Phil Palethorpe had parried Lee Molyneux's free kick.
The lead was restored when Steve Davies brilliantly fired a 20-yard free kick past Everton keeper Thordur Ingason but Everton again equalised immediately, this time Anichebe finding the net.
There were few chances in the second half or extra time though Rovers were far from outclassed by their Premiership opponents.
When it came down to penalties Palethorpe proved to be the hero for Rovers, making three saves, while Craig Curran scored the winning spot kick to earn Rovers a place in the Semi-Finals against Burscough.
