Tranmere will face Marine in the final of the Liverpool Senior Cup after Liverpool withdrew from their semi-final.

A statement on the Liverpool website said "Liverpool Football Club has reluctantly decided to withdraw from the Liverpool Senior Cup at the semi-final stage due to the number of other fixtures still to be played this season by the club's reserve and youth teams."

Rovers reached the final thanks to victories over Everton and Burscough, while Marine defeated St Helens Town in the Quarter Finals.

The two sides met in pre-season at Marine's Rossett Park, with Rovers winning 4-1 thanks to goals from Iain Hume, Eugene Dadi (2) and Chris Dagnall.

A date has not yet been arranged for the final which will take place at Rossett Park.

* Meanwhile, Rovers' Reserve game against Wrexham has been re-arranged for Monday, 10 April, kick off 7pm at Buckley Town's Globe Way.
