Tranmere Rovers are joining forces with the Royal British Legion to help raise funds for the 2008 Poppy Appeal by putting on a special offer in the build up to Remembrance Day at the home game against Crewe on Friday, 24 October.

The Royal British Legion's regional appeal will be officially launched at Prenton Park on Thursday, 16 October at 9.30am, when ex-servicemen will meet players and staff of the Club (Press welcome to attend).

As part of the partnership, admission for servicemen and women and ex-servicemen has been massively reduced for the game against Crewe. Adults will receive a £5 discount, with Seniors and Young Persons half price.

Current servicemen and women should present their ID cards at the Club Shop or Ticket Office to claim their discounted ticket. Ex-servicemen and women should present their discharge papers for their discounted ticket.

A ground collection will be held at the game by the Territorial Army and Birkenhead sixth form college students and Ellesmere Port Sea Cadet Corp will provide pre-match and half time entertainment.

"We teamed up with the Royal British Legion last season to launch their poppy appeal and were delighted with the response. We are more than happy to work with them again.

"We recognise the efforts of current and former servicemen and women and are pleased to be able to offer them reduced admission to the Crewe game and hope to welcome them back to Prenton Park in the future."
