Craig Curran hopes to take his pre-season form straight into Saturday's game at Swindon.

The Rovers striker scored four times in friendly action over the summer and says he's desperate for the season to begin.

He told www.tranmererovers.co.uk: "The goals give you confidence, but they're just pre-season. It's the big stage now and hopefully I can take my form into the season.

"I can't wait for the season to start.

I just want to keep playing as many games as I can and scoring goals at the same time."

Like the other players, Curran has had to get used to life in the new 4-3-3 formation being deployed by Tranmere, and faces stiff competition for places from his team mates.

He added: "I prefer 4-3-3. It allows you more space and gives you the chance to get into holes and behind defenders more.

"You have to adapt your game, especially if you're on the left or right of the three. You've got to be switched on when you're not on the ball to help the team out.

"There's competition wherever you are, at this club or any other. I'm just going to work hard and that's the best I can do.

"I'm still only 18 and I'm learning a lot from all the lads. It's great to play alongside experienced players."
