Ryan Shotton said his winning goal at Huddersfield was the result of some work on set plays in training.

The defender perfectly met Andy Taylor's cross to head in from close range, his first goal since joining from Stoke.

He told Tranmere World: "We've been practising set plays in training so it paid off. It was a brilliant delivery, he put it right in my path.

"I got a few goals at Altrincham on loan last season and I'd like to continue it. I'd like to think I'm a goalscoring defender.

"I think the first 10 minutes they looked a good team, Danny made a couple of great saves and we looked the better team after that."

With three wins from his four appearances since arriving on loan, Shotton says he is enjoying his time at the Club.

"The lads have been brilliant," he added. "Chorls talks to me at the back and it makes you feel really welcome.

"I'm only young still and I need to get experience. Tranmere is a great place to come and do that."
