Jason McAteer says the players need to match their performance against Colchester when they take on Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday night.
Rovers make the trip to Adams Park on the back of a 1-1 draw against fifth placed Colchester and McAteer believes it is a point in the right direction.
The Assistant Manager told Tranmere Player: "It felt like a win. It's about making little steps and it was a step towards what we're trying to do. The effort was magnificent, they applied themselves brilliantly and the quality was good. I don't think we got our just rewards but we stopped the rot.
"We all knew we needed a performance and the lads did it. It's now up to them to apply themselves in the same manner tomorrow night, Saturday and for the rest of the season.
"It's about us being honest with each other and putting the effort in. If we do that results will come. We know the quality is there and that the team is capable of getting a result and just a little bit of luck in the opposition box and we'll score and go on to win the game."
