McAteer Looking For Performance

Posted on: Mon 05 Oct 2009

Jason McAteer says Rovers have to respond to Saturday's defeat at Millwall with a win.

The Assistant Manager told Tranmere Player: "We never thought we'd turned the corner but that we were making small steps in the right direction. When you go away from home you look at bringing at least a point back. We went there with the idea of being tight and putting on the same performance as we did in the two previous games.

"We'd had a good couple of days on the training ground after the Wycombe game and we were going into the game with the same mindset and same team, but the players gave themselves a mountain to climb. To be 2-0 down after ten minutes was unacceptable.

"We've watched the game on the way home and sent the players away questioning themselves and asked them to come in this morning prepared to train hard and to put a performance in tomorrow.

"It's got nothing to do with what competition we're in tomorrow, the priority is winning a football match. That's what we'll be striving to do."
