Buchanan: We Have To Be Confident In Our Ability

Posted on: Thu 23 Feb 2012

David Buchanan says the Rovers players have to aim to recapture the form they showed earlier in the season.

Tranmere were as high as the top six in October but have dropped to 17th in League 1.

However, Buchanan believes his team mates have the ability to turn things around.

He told www.tranmererovers.co.uk: "We've been on a bad run but we're just trying to stay positive. When you're not winning every game looks difficult, but we've got to keep believing in ourselves, keep doing the right thing and hopefully pick up a win.

"Our home record isn't too bad, we've done quite well. We just need to turn draws into wins. When you're playing well you have to win and we haven't done that enough.

"We've done it before at the start of the season and when we went in front we were difficult to beat.

"We've given a couple of cheap early leads away and it's down to everyone, the defence, the midfield and strikers.

"We've got to be confident in our ability and trust each other as players.

"In any walk of life it's easy to be happy when things are going well. But when your backs are to the wall you can't be negative. You've got to hold your head high and this week training has been fantastic, it has been sharp and competitive.

"Every game is an opportunity to win.

"We need the fans, we need everyone to pull together and hopefully we can get positive results and get back in the right direction and move up the table."
