Carling Cup First Round, Tuesday 12 August, kick off 7.45pm at Blundell Park

Tranmere Manager Ronnie Moore hopes to have goalkeeper Danny Coyne available for selection for Tuesday's game at Grimsby.

The Welsh international missed the trip to Swindon but trained on Monday and may return to action.

Also back in training were striker Chris Greenacre and midfielder Gareth Edds, though Edds is a week away from full fitness. Defender Ian Goodison and midfielder Paul Henry are suspended.

Grimsby boss Alan Buckley welcomes Danny Boshell back into the squad, while loanee Simon Heslop has been given permission to play by parent club Barnsley.

The two clubs have met once before in the League Cup. In 1993 Rovers defeated the Mariners 4-1 at Prenton Park, with John Aldridge (2), Kenny Irons and Steve Vickers on target in a Third Round tie.

In total, the clubs have played 60 competitive matches, with Rovers winning 17 and Grimsby 27. The last meeting was in the 2003-04 season when Tranmere won 2-1 at Prenton Park thanks to goals from Iain Hume and Eugene Dadi.

Tranmere can be backed to win at 11/8 with bet365, while a 2-1 win is 17/2. Fancy a scorecast? Antony Kay scoring the first goal in a 1-0 win is a massive 155/1! Remember, every bet you place with bet365 directly helps the Club.
