Tranmere Reserves were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup by a strong Ipswich side at Prenton Park.
Despite early chances for Ross Rule and Tom Baker, Rovers went behind in the Third Round tie on 24 minutes when Connor Wickham took advantage of a defensive error to slot under Joe Collister.
Max Power fired wide on 49 minutes from 20 yards, while Collister produced a fine one handed save to deny Wickham a second two minutes later.
The visitors added their second on 53 minutes when David Cawley knocked a free kick to Josh Caarson and his 18 yard shot went under the wall and past Collister.
A long range Jack Mackreth effort almost brought Rovers back into the game on 70 minutes but Ipswich keeper Mirko Ranieri did enough to turn the ball behind, while Wickham was denied twice more at the other end.
Tranmere: Collister, Benson (Conchie 65), Vaulks, Ashcroft, Pursehouse, Roberts, Baker, Power, Rule (McNamara 51), Mackreth, Jennings. Substitutes not used: Gibbs, Coughlin, Appleton.
