Prenton Park is also home to the Wirral’s only dedicated Futsal Hub.
What is Futsal?
Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced, small sided soccer game that originated from South America in the 1930s.
It is the official FIFA recognized format of small sided soccer and is played across the world but is especially popular in Uruguay and Brazil.
The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure and is an excellent breeding ground for soccer competencies that can be translated into the regular format.
Many world-class soccer stars played Futsal in their youth and credit it with supporting their development. Ronaldinho, Kaka, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo all played and enjoyed Futsal growing up.
The International Soccer Academy team have worked together with FA curriculum writers to create the only ‘Futsal to Field’ Elite Soccer Development Scheme in the country.
Futsal to Field is utilised in Tranmere Rovers FC’s own training programme and Centre of
Excellence Academy. Coaches at the Club say the Futsal to Field framework is an integral part of the curriculum that surrounds Tranmere Rovers FC’s professional coaching plan.
Designed to develop the technical and tactical ability of soccer players, mastering the key skills of Futsal will fast track any aspiring player to an elite level.
Tranmere Rovers FC has coached a number of male and female Futsal players into International squads.
The Futsal Hub has its own gym and multiple classrooms in addition to one large and two medium size courts which ISA Soccer Scholars are encouraged to use.
The recently renovated café provides an area to relax between classroom and coaching sessions whilst enjoying healthy food and drink in the home of Tranmere Rovers FC.
