Setting the scene…
Tranmere Rovers head to promotion-chasing Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park in Sky Bet League One on Saturday afternoon, 3pm kick-off.
Micky Mellon’s men return to action having seen last week’s fixture away at Rochdale postponed as a result of heavy rainfall caused by Storm Dennis.
Rovers are seven points from safety and standing in their way this weekend are Gareth Ainsworth’s Chairboys, who are third on 56 points, one place and one point behind Coventry City.
Team news
Kane Wilson and Calum Woods have both trained on Thursday for the first time since injury.
George Ray suffered a groin injury against Bristol Rovers last week and is a doubt for the game in Buckinghamshire.
Peter Clarke and Ollie Banks have returned to training following recent lay-offs.
Centre-backs Mark Ellis and Evan Gumbs played in Tuesday night’s Cheshire Senior Cup win at Crewe Alexandra after long-term injuries, but Saturday will come too soon for selection.
One to watch
Full-back Joe Jacobson has featured on more than 200 occasions following his arrival at Wycombe Wanderers in July 2014.
Welshman Jacobson began his playing career at hometown club Cardiff City, before signing permanently for Bristol Rovers having spent time on loan with the Pirates as well as Accrington Stanley.
Jacobson went onto represent Oldham Athletic, a return to Accrington, and Shrewsbury Town.
After playing 110 games for the Salop, Jacobson linked up with Wycombe, playing a key role in the club’s promotion up to Sky Bet League One in 2018.
He is currently their top scorer with nine to his name.
