Match Preview: Lincoln City

12 March 2020

Setting the scene…

Tranmere Rovers return to Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon aiming for a fourth Sky Bet League One win in a row when they host Lincoln City, 3pm kick-off.

Micky Mellon’s men earned a third successive victory in the third-tier following Tuesday night’s 2-1 triumph away at Blackpool.

The result moved Rovers just three-points from safety heading into the weekend clash with Michael Appleton’s Imps.

Lincoln arrive on the Wirral last Saturday, with Tom Hopper’s double helping them see off Burton Albion at Sincil Bank.

Team news

Neil Danns remains a doubt for the visit of Lincoln after picking up a knock at Accrington.

Morgan Feeney is back with Everton with recovering from a hamstring injury.

One to watch

Experienced defensive midfielder Liam Bridcutt is currently on loan at Lincoln City from Nottingham Forest after signing in January.

Reading-born Bridcutt turned professional at Chelsea before signing for Brighton and Hove Albion in 2010.

During four years on the South Coast, Bridcutt featured on 151 occasions, winning promotion to the Championship in his first year in a Seagulls shirt.

He signed for  Sunderland in January 2014 and also went onto represent Leeds United prior to an undisclosed fee Nottingham Forest transfer in August 2017.

Bridcutt, 30, who is capped by Scotland, was on loan at Bolton Wanderers before his Lincoln move.

Back the lads at Prenton Park on Saturday! #TogetherStronger

13 March 2020

A fourth win in a row is the target set for Tranmere Rovers Football Club as we get set to host Lincoln City at Prenton Park on Saturday!

Together, we are stronger, and we need the SWA to turn it on force and be the 12th man against the Imps.

In recent weeks, Rovers have secured three wins on the road against Shrewsbury Town, Accrington Stanley, and most recently, Blackpool on Tuesday night, backed by nearly 1,000 Tranmere Rovers supporters!

The message from manager Micky Mellon was strong after the win at Blackpool. "We are all fighting together with a crowd that keeps backing us so fantastically well and we’re really giving it everything that we have got," explained the manager when praising the SWA.

“We were backed by a tremendous away following and they always support and drive us on.

“I am pleased about that and we can now move into the remainder of the week with another massive game on Saturday."

Goalscorer, Morgan Ferrier, who played a crucial role in securing the last win, said: "For someone like me, they’re the 12th man in games. They give you that inspiration to run ten yards harder, ten yards faster. They’re unreal, and I want to tell them to stay with us for the rest of the season.”

Tickets for U12s start from just £2, while adult prices begin from only £19 – so make sure you don’t miss out on affordable and live football.

TRFC are Wirral’s Family Club, and there are plenty of community activities on offer, so why not bring your SWA2 members and make it a family day out watching Rovers vs Lincoln City.
