Match Preview: Grimsby Town

19 November 2020

Tranmere Rovers take on Grimsby Town in Sky Bet League Two at Prenton Park this weekend.

Rovers come into the game off the back of a dramatic 4-3 win over Port Vale last week and will look to make it three wins out of three in the league this Saturday.

Grimsby currently reside in 19th in the table having won three, drawn three and lost four of their opening 10 games.

Team news

Ian Dawes reported that Liam Ridehalgh will miss the match this weekend with a groin injury but is hopeful of him returning to training early next week.

Paul Lewis is in contention to return to action following an injury sustained in the match against Accrington Stanley.

Stefan Payne is still out with a long term groin injury.

Match officials

Referee: Marc Edwards

One to watch

Midfielder, Danny Rose

Coming through the youth ranks at Manchester United, Rose has vast experience in the EFL and has gained promotion from League Two three times with Northampton, Portsmouth and Swindon.

The 32 year old has appeared more than 300 times in his career and nine times for Grimsby this season in all competitions. He will look to regain and retain possession for Ian Holloway’s side and could be vital to the way the Mariners want to play at Prenton Park.
