Tranmere Rovers vs. Port Vale

Saturday 25th August 2018

3.00pm at Prenton Park

Team News

Adam Buxton has stepped up his recovery from injury after he trained on Thursday however this game is still too soon for him as he is still “some way” behind in terms of fitness due to missing pre-season according to Micky Mellon.

It is a similar story with Liam Ridehalgh as he gradually steps up the intensity in his recovery from a knee injury.

Zoumana Bakayogo (calf) and Ritchie Sutton (leg) are the latest on the injury list but there has been some good news as Sutton will not require surgery for his injury.

Evan Gumbs is set to see another specialist to get to the bottom of his injury troubles.

Head to Head

Probably the most memorable win for Rovers over Vale in recent years was a 4-1 win at Vale Park on the first game of the season in 2002, a game which Micky Mellon played in. Our most recent win in the league against Port Vale was in 2008. A 2-0 win at Prenton Park, Greenacre and Ian Moore with the goals.
