Micky Mellon spoke ahead of Saturday’s game against Yeovil Town at Prenton Park and insists that we need to keep energy levels high.
“Obviously we were in on Christmas Day, we wanted to prepare properly for Boxing Day. We trained today (Thursday) because we always train the two days before a match, as well as having a recovery day.
“The lads who didn’t play on Wednesday have got their yardage up today which was a good session and we’ll all join back together tomorrow in preparation for Saturday.
The reverse fixture resulted in 0-0 draw in Somerset and Micky Mellon is expecting another close contest on The Wirral.
“It will be a tight game against Yeovil but it is one that we’re really looking forward to. We’re playing Saturday and Wednesday at the moment but I’m sure the players would rather be playing instead of training.
“I think you’ve got to be careful of what you are doing between games because they’re not really going to get much fitter now. The important thing is to watch the energy levels.”
