Sky Bet League Two Opponents - Bury

2 July 2018

With the 2018/19 season fast approaching we thought we would remind you of who we will be facing next season in Sky Bet League Two, team by team, starting with Bury FC.

Name: Bury FC

Founded: 1885

Nickname: The Shakers

Stadium: The Energy Check Stadium at Gigg Lane. Capacity: 12,500

Distance from Prenton Park: 43.89 miles

Manager: Ryan Lowe

How did they do last season?

Bury will undoubtedly feel disappointed with their previous campaign, finishing 24th in League One and being relegated to League Two. The Shakers began the season with Lee Clark in charge, however after only three wins before the end of October; Chris Lucketti took over at the helm following Clark's departure.

After failing to find an upturn in form, Lucketti only lasted two months after seven straight defeats and was replaced by player coach Ryan Lowe.

Lowe did manage to salvage some hope for Bury with only one defeat in eight after the Christmas period. Unfortunately for the Greater Manchester side, this form was short lived as it was followed by seven defeats in a row and subsequently, relegation out of League One.

The end of the 2017/18 season did see a few better results for The Shakers as they went four unbeaten with  Lowe putting his trust in many of Bury's young professionals and youth prospects, handing debuts to many of them.

New Signings at the time of writing:

Will Aimson, Byron Moore, Nicky Adams, Chris Dagnall

History of results vs. TRFC:

Tranmere wins: 22

Draws: 17

Bury wins: 28

When do we play them?

Our first fixture against Bury back in Sky Bet League Two will be away on December 22nd 2018 and then the reverse fixture will be our last home game of the season on April 27th 2019
