Sky Bet League Two Opponents - Cambridge United

3 July 2018

With the 2018/19 season fast approaching we thought we would remind you of who we will be facing next season in Sky Bet League Two. Today's team is Cambridge United.

Name: Cambridge United

Founded: 1912

Nickname: The U's

Stadium: The Abbey Stadium. Capacity: 8,127

Distance from Prenton Park: 190.8 miles

Manager:  Joe Dunne

How did they do last season?

Cambridge's 17/18 season could be described as very stop-start. Shaun Derry began the season at the helm however The U's only managed to register one win out of the first month of the season. The following set of results could be described as all or nothing for Cambridge as they won four and lost four of the next eight fixtures and they had to wait until October to gather any sort of unbeaten run, which lasted five games. Towards the end of 2017, their lack of ability to find the back of the net proved costly as they only managed one goal in November, including a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Luton Town. Without a win throughout January, Cambridge parted company with Shaun Derry and replaced him with caretaker manager Joe Dunne. Dunne provided an upturn in form at The Abbey, winning four out of five during February however too many draws during March resulted in their hopes of a play off place fading away. They finished in a comfortable 12th place.

New Signings at the time of writing:

George Taft, Louis John, Reggie Lambe
