Hello everyone,
It's been a while since I've wrote a blog from China but I'm over here at the moment working with the Inner Mongolia Government through our partnership with Little London English schools which is based in Hohhot.
Before I explain more I've got to say congratulations to everyone connected to Tranmere Rovers. What a day we all had at Wembley, one that will always be remembered in Tranmere's history. From that awful day at Plymouth to the fantastic day against Boreham Wood, what a journey we all have had, ups & downs, laughter & tears but what a feeling when that final whistle went and we were back in the Football League, where we belong.... oh yes I did celebrate for a day or two!!!!!
Back to China, the reason I've gone out to Hohhot is that Tranmere Rovers & Little London have been asked by the Education department of the IMG to help scout and recruit boys & girls during a tournament in Ordos , this will involve 16 teams of both boys & girls from all over Inner Mongolia. Our job is to pick the best 22 players to form a squad that will represent the government against other provinces.
I flew into Beijing then onto Hohhot which is a really nice place. Due to the High School tournament starting later I was able to samples the culture, places to visit and the food( which I must say is unbelievable, so nice). My technique with chopsticks is good so no spoon needed on this trip.
Little London Football has allowed Tranmere to send out coaches to work over in schools throughout Hohhot so I was also able to attend the sessions to have a look at them working, it was great see the facilities these schools had, most of them all having a full size 3G pitch. The children were very respectful to us during every visit I made.
Well I'm packed and ready to be picked up for our two hour journey to Ordos, I'll let you know how the scouting goes..
