Midfielder returns to Prenton Park on permanent deal
Midfielder Ollie Banks has today agreed to join Tranmere Rovers on a two-year contract, subject to a medical.
Born in Rotherham, 25-year-old Banks came through the Academy system at his hometown club Rotherham United, turning professional and made a goalscoring first team debut for The Millers in the final game of the 2010-11 season.
That would be his only appearance for The Millers as he then moved into non-league football with Stalybridge Celtic, FC United of Manchester and North Ferriby United.
Impressive performances for those clubs earned him a move back into the Football League with Chesterfield in September 2013 and his early performances for The Spireites saw him named Football League Young Player of the Month.
After close to 100 appearances at Chesterfield, scoring 13 goals, he joined fellow Football League outfit Oldham Athletic in the summer of 2016 and played more than 50 times for The Latics.
Banks had a loan spell here at Prenton Park during the 2017-18 season, making eight appearances and scoring a fine goal in the last of those against AFC Fylde before being recalled by Oldham.
The midfielder then spent the second half of the season on loan with League Two side Swindon Town where he appeared 17 times and scored three goals.

"We saw during his loan period with us last season just what a talented player he is. He made a very positive impression on us as a coaching staff and also with the supporters.
