Harris Signs New Contract

Midfielder pens new one-year contract

Midfielder Jay Harris has signed a new contract at Tranmere Rovers which will keep him at the Club until the end of the 2018-19 season.

Harris arrived at Prenton Park in the summer of 2015 from Wrexham and has been a key player for the Club in that three year period, making a total of 121 appearances with seven goals.

The 31-year-old primarily operates in midfield, but he showed his versatility towards the end of last season when required to play at right-back, including at Wembley Stadium in the Promotion Final win over Boreham Wood which secured Tranmere's place back in the Football League.

He has League Two experience with more than 100 appearances across spells with Accrington Stanley and Chester City earlier in his career.

Manager Micky Mellon said: “I'm delighted to keep Jay at the football club because he's such a good footballer.

“He has been fantastic for me since I've been at the Club and has shown great adaptability and attitude by helping the team in an unfamiliar position when he's been asked to.

“He played a key role in helping the Club back into the Football League and I'm sure that he'll have an important part to play once more in League Two next season.”
