Manager looks ahead to weekend's play-off semi-final
Tranmere Rovers have a home play-off semi-final this Saturday afternoon as the quest for promotion back into the EFL continues.
In a change to the play-off system in the Vanarama National League this season, the prize for finishing second is a one-legged home tie in the semi-final against the winners of an eliminator between the teams who finished 5th and 6th.
Manager Micky Mellon says that the home advantage could make all the difference with the home support right behind the team on Saturday afternoon.
He said: "The advantage is that we're at home, and I'm sure we'll have lots of supporters behind us and it will be a great atmosphere.
"The margins will be small and we need to make sure that they fall in our favour."
With the opposition still to be decided, the boss says he and his coaching staff will watch the eliminator with keen interest and, as always, be thoroughly prepared for Saturday's game.
He says it is an exciting time to be involved and he's looking forward to the game.
"We'll have two eyes on Wednesday's game because it's the opposition and then we'll make sure the boys are as best prepared as possible and leave no stone un-turned to give us the best opportunity possible of success in the tie.
"We're in the shake up at the end of the season and it's really exciting, we'll enjoy the build up and then get fighting for the prize which is getting through the to final and we'll make sure we're ready."
Tickets for Saturday's game have been selling well, so make sure you get yours and don't miss out. They are available from as little as £2 for juniors from the Club Store at Prenton Park and online at www.trfctickets.co.uk/home-matches.
