Two additional pre-season friendlies announced
The pre-season fixture list for Tranmere Rovers is taking shape as Micky Mellon's side start preparations for the 2018-19 season in Sky Bet League Two.
In addition to the three fixtures against Warrington Town, Chorley and Rochdale which were announced last week, Rovers will also play host to Wigan Athletic (14 July) and Fleetwood Town (21 July). Both of these games will take place at Prenton Park with 3:00pm kick-offs.
Wigan Athletic, whose squad includes former Tranmere midfielder Max Power and are managed by ex-Rovers player Paul Cook, had a successful campaign in 2017-18.
They were crowned champions of Sky Bet League One and had a fantastic run to the quarter finals of the Emirates FA Cup, beating West Ham United and Manchester City along the way.
Fleetwood Town are a Sky Bet League One side who finished last season in 13th position. They have recently appointed former England international midfielder Joey Barton as manager, and the game at Prenton Park will be one of his first in charge of the Cod Army.
