Goalkeeper looks ahead to the play-off semi-final at Prenton Park

Tranmere Rovers are involved in the Vanarama National League play-off semi-final on Saturday afternoon (12:15pm kick-off) when Ebbsfleet United travel north to Prenton Park for a one-legged encounter for a place in the Promotion Final on May 12.

Goalkeeper Scott Davies says that the squad is ready for the game and looking forward to it.

With the change in format, the play-off semi-final is a one-off game and Davies says that it does change how you would approach the fixture a little.

He said: "We're excited, it's a big game. We're ready, the season comes down to this now.

"It's all or nothing. If you have it over two legs, you can plan for a bit more and have a little bit of leeway, but Saturday is all or nothing, so we have to make sure that every one of us is on our game.

"Hopefully the crowd can also make a difference and help us to get the job done."

Davies says the disappointment of last season's final defeat against Forest Green Rovers at Wembley Stadium is still fresh in the mind.

The former Fleetwood Town shot-stopper is one of a number of players still at the Club who were involved last season, and he says they will be using that as motivation to not let it happen again this time around.

"For me personally, it still hurts. It was probably one of the worst summers I have ever had and one of the longest season I've ever had following it.

"We have to use that as motivation and harness those feelings to right the wrongs of last year.

"When you look around the dressing room, there is a lot of fight, more than ever. We're fighting for something bigger than ourselves."

The 31-year-old also spoke about the importance of everyone being united and helping each other when they need it.

He added: "It's about everybody in that ground, on the pitch and in the stands, staying together.

"We'll stick together, stick to the plan and by staying together, we'll hopefully come out with the right result."
