29 May 2018

League line up is complete after EFL play-offs

Tranmere Rovers will play in Sky Bet League Two in the 2018-19 season after promotion from the National League at the end of last season.

The division's line up is now complete after the EFL play-offs took place over the Bank Holiday weekend, with the League Two final yesterday seeing Coventry City promoted into League One. Congratulations to Mark Robins and his side. Exeter City remain in League Two and will face Rovers home and away in the coming campaign.

The full list of the 23 opposition clubs we will face in 2018-19 is:

Crewe Alexandra

Exeter City

Forest Green Rovers

Grimsby Town

Lincoln City

Macclesfield Town

Mansfield Town

Milton Keynes Dons

Newport County

The total mileage which will be travelled during the 2018-19 season for league fixtures will be 6,568 miles (information from Google Maps), with the shortest journey being the 80-mile round-trip to Crewe Alexandra and the longest travel being to Crawley Town which will be a 514-mile round-trip.

The largest stadium Rovers will play in during the League Two campaign will be Stadium MK, home of Milton Keynes Dons, which has a capacity of over 30,000, while the smallest capacity stadium in the division is The New Lawn, home to Forest Green Rovers which has a capacity of just over 5,000.

Two of the clubs in this division currently have managers with Rovers connections. Bury's boss Ryan Lowe spent a season as a player at Prenton Park during 2013-14, while the man in charge at Colchester United is former Tranmere centre back John McGreal who made 233 appearances for the Club during the 1990s.

The fixtures for the EFL season will be released on Thursday 21 June at 9:00am, with the campaign getting under way on Saturday 4 August.
