Mellon: We have a strong tradition in the FA Cup

8 November 2018

Manager Micky Mellon says he is very proud of the Club’s traditions in the FA Cup and is going all out for a place in the second round of the competition.

Rovers face Oxford City in the first round on Saturday afternoon, 3pm kick-off at Prenton Park in what will be the first ever meeting between the two sides.

Speaking ahead of the game, the manager, who has played in this competition for Tranmere as a player, said: “It is terrific to be involved in the FA Cup and we are really looking forward to playing another home game. We will go out there on Saturday and represent the football club properly.

“The game is a huge occasion for us and I want to make sure everyone knows that. This is a big game for us and we are very excited. We know what the prize is and ourselves and Oxford City are both fighting to get into the second round.

“It is what the fans expect so we will be going all out to do well and try and get a result. We will always have the right attitude and it will be no different on Saturday.

“It will be a hard game. We are very proud of our traditions in the FA Cup and we want to get that back as part of the Club climbing back to what we had before and that is having decent cup runs.”
