Micky praises fans for terrific Prenton Park atmosphere

22 November 2018

Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon is expecting a terrific atmosphere this weekend as Oldham Athletic visit Prenton Park

Rovers return to league action against the Latics following Tuesday night’s FA Cup first round victory at Oxford City.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the boss discussed Saturday’s opponents, the Super White Army and the return of Cole Stockton and Liam Ridehalgh to the first team set up.

Starting on Cole and Liam, the boss said: “They are two solid first team performers and we know what we are going to get from them on a matchday. It is good to have them back again in the group.

“We are coming into the Christmas period now and games are coming thick and fast, so it is important we have as many people available as possible to keep moving forward.

“There will be a good crowd at Prenton Park on Saturday. Oldham will bring good support with them and there will be a good atmosphere.

“The atmosphere is always good for the North West games. I say this every weekend, but it will be a hard game, they have a lot of experience in their group and they have played a lot of EFL games between them.

‘It will be an experienced side coming to Prenton Park and they will know what to expect. We know we will be in for another tough afternoon.

“The atmosphere the fans are creating at Prenton Park is terrific. It is a great stadium and it is a good place to play football. We are very proud of our traditions and we are proud of our home form and the fans have been terrific. We know we need their support and they get right behind us.”
