Micky's Oxford reaction

11 November 2018

Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon spoke to the local media after the 3-3 draw against Oxford City in the first round of the FA Cup.

Speaking after the game, the boss said: “Every credit to Oxford City, they came here and scored three goals. If someone had said they would score three goals, you would think they would be in the next round.

“We are still in the hat which is the positive. It doesn’t need me to stand here and try and be clever and tell everybody about how that was different to what we usually do. I think they all know that.

“You could probably pull anyone out of the crowd that watches Tranmere and they could probably tell you as much as I can tell you right now. I am not going to try and do a disservice and explain that to you, you all know.

“The positives are that we are still in the hat and every credit to Oxford City and they can consider themselves very unlucky that they got to that stage and not put us out of the competition.

“They have given us another fighting chance and a chance to react.”
