Micky Mellon delighted to receive Wirral Sports Person of the Year award

A packed audience at Hulme Hall, Port Sunlight on Thursday 11th October were treated to a wonderful evening of presentations highlighting Wirral’s best sporting achievers andunsung heroes who dedicate their time and service to their clubs and associations. The prestigious Wirral Sports Awards evening was opened by the Mayor, Councillor Geoffrey Watt, himself a passionate sports fan.

 

Tranmere manager Micky Mellon attended to receive the Wirral Sports Person award 2018. Other awards presented on the night included:-

 

· Outstanding Achievement Award: Freya Anderson/Wirral Metro Swimming Club

· Young Sports Person: Tori Sopp – Wirral Metro Swimming Club

· Club of the Year: Upton Cricket Club

· Young Sports Volunteer: Megan Lucius – Wirral Gymnastics Club

· Coach of the Year: Sarah Madge – Birkenhead Trampolining Club

· Volunteer of the Year: Linda Tonkmor – Wirral Gymnastics Club

· Sports PE Dept of the Year : Ridgeway High School

· Secondary School Girls Team of the Year: Prenton High School Girls Cricket Team

· Secondary Boys School Team of the Year: Calday Grange Grammar School Football Team

· Lifetime Achievement: Peter Phelan – Wirral Amateur Boxing Association

Special recognition Awards were also passed out to:

· Alisha Moody - Wirral & Chester Taekwando

· Pam Green - Wirral Athletics Club

· Eleanor Jordan - Propulsion Trampolining

· Andrew Waring - Birkenhead Athletics Club

· Margaret Dooley – Birkenhead Lawn Tennis Club

· Ellen Lucius - Wirral Gymnastics Club

· Rachael Haslam - Wirral Gymnastics Club

 

The Wirral Sports Forum are delighted to announce that Freya Anderson has also been nominated for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year 2018.
