"This is a massive football club" - Mullin ahead of Newport

21 September 2018

Striker Paul Mullin played an integral role in helping Tranmere Rovers secure their first win away from home since the Club’s promotion back to the English Football League.

Rovers’ number nine came off the bench at Carlisle United to hit a stunning strike in order to help secure a 2-0 victory against the Cumbrians.

Mullin, who arrived from fellow League Two side Swindon Town during the summer, spoke to the media ahead of Tranmere’s return to Prenton Park on Saturday, with Newport County the visitors to the Wirral.

He said: “The expectations are very high, this is a massive football club and we won promotion last season and there is no reason why we can’t aim high again this year.

“We have started the season well and hopefully we can carry on our form for as long as we can.

“I know this league very well, I spent two years at Morecambe and a year at Swindon Town. Last year at Swindon, we could have earned promotion as they are a massive club too.

“I have come here and our lads are very good players and there is no reason why we can’t carry on our good form. We take one game at a time and pick up points as we go. It is a long season but hopefully by the time May comes around, we will be where we want to be.”
