"We are learning all of the time" - Micky ahead of Newport

21 September 2018

Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon believes his team are learning all the time ahead of this weekend’s League Two encounter against Newport County.

Rovers have made an impressive start to life back in the EFL, and will look to continue their recent run of form and build on last weekend’s 2-0 victory on the road at Carlisle United.

On home soil, Rovers remain unbeaten in the league, and Mellon knows his side will have to be once again properly prepared if they are to collect maximum points against the Welsh outfit.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the boss said: “We are only three points behind third place in the table and this is a position we would have taken early on.

“However, it is still very early days and we are not getting carried away and we are just pleased that we are getting some good work done.

“We know we can improve and we know we could have more points than we have now. We are learning all the time.

“It will be a tough game, they are all tough because we are new to this level and we are still gelling as a team.

“We know we are in for a tough game against a team that has collected more points than us so we will respect them like we do with everyone. We will be properly prepared and give it our best shot to get a valuable three points.”
