Davies stresses the importance of the SWA

Tranmere Rovers goalkeeper Scott Davies has urged the SWA to ‘Pack the Park’ this weekend when fellow promotion hopefuls MK Dons visit Prenton Park.

Micky Mellon’s side, who are fifth in the division, four points off Paul Tisdale’s Dons ahead of the big weekend fixture, feels that the cohesive effort that coaching staff, players and supporters have shown throughout this season could prove decisive as the campaign enters its final five matches.

TRFC have the joint second-best home record in League Two and Davies has praised the Club’s supporters for the backing they have given the players, both home and away.

Davies said: “Hopefully there will be a big crowd behind us, since I have been here they have been absolutely superb, and you can see the difference they make, travelling away with us so hopefully we’ll have a big crowd at home for us on Saturday and they get right behind us.

“It is no coincidence that our home form over the last two years is up there with any team in the country, it just shows that we are all pulling in the same direction and results follow as well.

“The fans have been massive in those tight games, you need everyone pulling in the same direction and they give you that extra lift. They have been like a 12th man, they have made a big difference to us and we can go in to Saturday’s game, we’ve earned the right for a big game at home now, so we’ll get a good following and won’t let them down.

“It will be a tough game, they are a good team, we all know that it is going to be tough, we’ve earned the right with five games to go to have a big game so we’ve got to enjoy it and make sure we turn up, these kind of games, Play-Off games, big games like this where you’re fighting for automatics, you have to make sure you turn up and as long as you turn up and give your performance, the result should and more often than not turn out the right way.

“It is about saving the moment. These days don’t come around every season, so we have to make sure as players and as supporters, we embrace it and take the challenge head on.

“Hopefully we’ll get a good crowd behind, we’ll take the challenge head on. With five games to go we’re in with a chance of automatic promotion, we’re embracing it and we’re fighting every day and you never know where that might take us.”
