James Norwood wins League Two Player of the Season award!

8 April 2019

It was a hat trick of awards for Rovers forward James Norwood at this year’s EFL Awards as he was named Sky Bet League Two Player of the Season.

The awards, which took place on Sunday 7th April at Grosvenor House in London and celebrated the efforts of EFL clubs. A range of awards were given out, rewarding clubs and players for both on the field and off the field achievements.

Norwood, who has netted 29 times in all competitions, picked up three awards on the night. He was included in the Football Manager League Two Team of the Season as well as the EFL Football Manager Team of the Season which is the best 11 players across all three divisions.

Finally, James picked up Sky Bet League Two Player of the Season which is picked from every player in the league. He was nominated for the final three alongside James O’Shea and Danny Mayor of Bury.

On what is an incredible achievement, Norwood said: “I’m delighted to win the award. It’s every credit to the rest of the team who all work so hard to produce those chances for me to score as well as the manager who has put his trust in me so I’m just happy that I can do my best to repay that.

“I’m enjoying the season so far, both as a team and personally, but I’ve said before that I’d be happy to not score another goal this season if it meant that the team succeeded so that’s the most important thing.

“We’ve got some very important games coming up in the run in so I’ll just be doing my best to do my bit in helping us reach where we want to be.”

A massive well done to James and the rest of the team for being involved in such awards in our first season back in the EFL!
