Tranmere Rovers midfielder Connor Jennings is confident that he and his team-mates can still earn automatic promotion from Sky Bet League Two.
Micky Mellon’s men welcome second-placed Bury to Prenton Park for a top-of-the-table six-pointer on the Wirral, looking to return to winning ways in front of the SWA.
TRFC are sixth, four-points from Mansfield Town in third as the season reaches its conclusion with just two games of the campaign left to play.
In town are Ryan Lowe’s Shakers, who alongside Tranmere are vying to join champions Lincoln City in the third-tier next term.
And Mancunian Jennings, 27, believes that Rovers can make up the ground on teams above them and secure a place in the top three and gain automatic promotion.
Jennings said: “You have obviously got to keep believing, we are still able to get automatic, I think that it is a massive game, to get the three points and we’ll hope to do that.
“Obviously it has been a difficult month and we’ve had a tough run of games to be fair but I feel that we’ve done really well in pretty much all of them, we’ve created chances, unfortunately we weren’t able to pick up the three-points on Friday and Monday so we just have to keep doing what we are doing, keep believing and see what happens.”
Rovers are in the mix for promotion once again, having returned to the EFL last May after beating Boreham Wood in the National League Play-Off Final.
Jennings says the squad can take heart from their previous Play-Off experiences.
He added: “For the third year on the bounce we are in a Play-Off spot chasing automatic promotion, we have all been there before, so we have to keep believing and keep going.”
