Manager Micky Mellon gave his reaction after the 2-1 win against MK Dons at Prenton Park in front of more than 8,000 home supporters.
Rovers secured a deserved win courtesy of goals from David Perkins and Connor Jennings, to move within a point of today’s opponents.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, the manager said: “IIt was a real big effort from everyone, the fans, the players and the staff to beat a very good side. We knew we would have to be very good at all the things we are good at in order to try and get that result.
“We are delighted with the three points but that is all it is, it is three points added to what we have already done before. We will honestly not get carried away, we have got ourselves into a fantastic position and we have to make sure we keep focused and working hard to pick up points.
“We scored a brilliant goal through a brilliant player in David Perkins. He has done is hamstring and that is a massive blow for him and for us. Jay Harris seamlessly slid into the team and he now has an opportunity to come in at a crucial part of the season. He knows us very well and he is experienced. We are delighted with the squad we have that we can continue things forward.
“It was a good game which represented the division very well. We had two teams trying to play the right way with a big crowd watching.
“Mark Ellis got pushed in the back for their goal, a blatant push and you can’t miss them. That is why we were so annoyed on the side.
“We speak about it all the time about temperament, staying focused and no matter what happens, we don’t come off the plan. We carry on and don’t let it affect us as we can’t do anything about it now, and they did after their goal.
“We kept pecking away and we knew if we kept up the tempo in the second half, we would get an opportunity.
“There is still work to be done! We will be back in on Monday and we will move on very fast.”
