#SWA2: Millie wins Easter programme competition

24 April 2019

Tranmere Rovers is a club at the heart of the local community and is proud to bring together football supporters young and old. So much so, that as part of our Easter celebrations, we invited local children to design the front cover of our match day programme.

Hundreds of children entered with the chance to see their TRFC Easter-themed drawing on the front of our bank holiday weekend programme ahead of the clash with Forest Green Rovers.

The competition, part of the #SWA2 campaign to bring young supporters closer to the Club, was extra special this time around as the winner was chosen by manager Micky Mellon himself.

Picked out by hand during a viewing at The Campus, Micky chose ten-year-old Millie Clixby’s Easter bunny inspired design as the winner.

The colourful drawing was then sent to Tranmere Rovers official programme printers, and a one-off framed copy was signed by the entire first team.

We invited Millie and her family for a surprise presentation at Prenton Park before the Forest Green game, where Micky gifted the signed programme to the Clixby family and gave them a unique ground tour!

Talking about her inspirations, Millie said: “I thought about the team and what they would be like if they win today, but then also just about how happy they are to play together and how they would enjoy Easter!”

Millie’s Dad, Tim Clixby, said: “Millie has been a Tranmere fan for as long as she’s been old enough to come to games with me, she loves getting involved with the Club and has taken part in the Junior Media Team before now.

I think I’m even more excited than her to be standing pitchside in this lovely weather - but I know she’s absolutely over the moon and has been asking me for weeks who has won! It’s so nice to finally tell her she designed the winning programme.”

You can watch the full video of her SWA2 experience below. Keep an eye on our social media accounts for news of our next programme competition and make sure you have your colourful crayons at the ready!
