Maddox excited to play infront of SWA

9 August 2019

Midfielder Jacob Maddox is excited to play in front of the SWA after he signed for Tranmere Rovers on a season long-loan from Chelsea.

The 20-year-old Bristol-native came through the academy system at Stamford Bridge and becomes Micky Mellon’s 11th new recruit of the summer.

And Maddox, an England youth international, is delighted to secure his move to Prenton Park for the season having played against Rovers twice for Cheltenham Town last term.

Maddox said: “I’m buzzing. Tranmere is a massive Club and they got a great promotion last year and I looked at the team and the stadium and it is definitely exciting times for the Club, and I am excited to help the team.

“The fan base and the atmosphere in the ground was very impressive and, on the pitch, the great players they have there. It’s definitely a team who can get the best out of me and that is a big factor.

“The manager has been very welcoming, obviously I have had an injury that has put me back a few weeks but I’m looking forward to getting up to Tranmere on Monday and help the team.”

Maddox will play in Sky Bet League One for the first time during his loan stay on the Wirral and despite having interest from elsewhere, he always knew TRFC was the best option for him.

He added: “Me and Chelsea thought that Tranmere was the best option for me just to show what I can do, so I just want to get my head down and do well.

“I’m looking forward to getting out there to help the team and push the team forward.”
