Setting the scene…
Tranmere Rovers are back on their travels when they make the trip to Rotherham United for a Sky Bet League One fixture this Saturday, 3pm kick-off at the New York Stadium.

Micky Mellon’s men head to South Yorkshire aiming to pick up their first away points of the season against a Millers outfit who sit 14th in the division.

Paul Warne’s hosts slipped to a 1-0 defeat to local rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup second-round on Wednesday night.

Team News
Manager Mellon confirmed in his pre-match press conference Morgan Ferrier will be out for eight weeks with a knee injury he sustained in training.

Ollie Banks and Corey Blackett-Taylor will both miss the game at Rotherham this weekend after the pair were sent off in the 2-0 defeat away to Bristol Rovers.

Boss Mellon will be without Jake Caprice, (ankle) Mark Ellis, (knee) Evan Gumbs (ACL) and Ishmael Miller (hamstring).

One to Watch
New signing Freddie Ladapo has scored twice so far in the opening month of the campaign.

The Londoner turned professional at Colchester United in 2011 having come through the Essex side’s youth system and spent time in Non-League with Thurrock, Chelmsford City, Bishop’s Stortford, Kidderminster Harriers, Hayes and Yeading United and Grays Athletic.

Ladapo went onto score 25 goals in 53 outings turning out for Margate which earned him a move to Premier League Crystal Palace in March 2016.

He was later loaned to Oldham Athletic and Shrewsbury Town before he made his Premier League debut for Palace away versus Manchester United at Old Trafford in September 2017 as a substitute.

In January 2018, Ladapo signed for Southend United prior to a switch to Plymouth Argyle six-months later.
The 26-year-old made 45 appearances for the Pilgrims in 2018/19, scoring 18 times in 45 games for the Home Park club.
Ladapo became Rotherham’s club-record signing this summer on an undisclosed fee and leads their goal scoring this term.
