Rovers secure Hepburn-Murphy loan

2 August 2019

Tranmere Rovers are delighted to confirm the signing of attacker Rushian Hepburn-Murphy on a season long loan from Premier League side Aston Villa.

The 20-year-old, who has been capped by England from U16 to U20 level, will be available for selection for tomorrow's League One opener against Rochdale at Prenton Park.

Hepburn-Murphy, who played against Tranmere last season whilst on loan at Cambridge United, has featured for his parent club Aston Villa in both the Premier League and the Championship.

A product of Villa's youth academy, his professional debut came in the Premier League at the age of 16 against Sunderland.

Manager Micky Mellon said: "Rushian is an exciting talent who we’re really looking forward to working with.

“He’s come on loan from a huge football club in Aston Villa so we’re pleased that they see him developing here.

“We believe that this is another step forward for us in terms of us being very competitive in this league.”

Hepburn Murphy said: "I can’t wait to get going.

“The start of the season is exciting especially after getting promoted last season so we want to get going as quick as possible.

“I played against Tranmere last season and I really liked the way they played so that has played a part in me deciding to join.

“I’m pacey, like to score goals and take on defenders.”
