Banks, Ridehalgh and Gilmour join the Dementia Friendly Christmas Party

12 December 2019

Tranmere Rovers held their Dementia Group Christmas Party on Thursday afternoon which was held in the Recreation Centre at Prenton Park.

Organised by Tranmere Rovers In the Community, (TRIC) entertainment at the party included Lucas and Becky, from the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, who played Christmas music on the violin.

Food, music and Christmas bingo were also on offer, with those who attended able to get up and have a dance.

Dementia Friendly afternoons run every Thursday from 2pm-4pm and those with Dementia and their carers can spend an afternoon enjoying free activities at the Tranmere Rovers Recreation Centre.

Around 15/20 older people are engaged each week through quizzes, games, bingo and light exercise.

The TRIC team offer a supportive environment for other carers to meet and to relieve the pressure of looking after a partner full-time.

Tranmere Rovers midfielder Ollie Banks joined in the fun, and he says it is important that the Club continue their links with the local Wirral community.

Banks said: “Tranmere Rovers is a big family Club as we’ve seen over this season, and through the time that I have been here, especially at this time of year.

“Not everyone is fortunate to have family and friends around them, so it’s important we all come together and engage.”
